Felecia Gaston, long time resident of Marin City, will speak about her new book, "a brand new start...this is home." The book reveals the untold stories and experiences of the Black people of Marin City since the 1940's when workers migrated from the American south and mid-west to face housing and social challenges.

In 2022, to celebrate Marin City's 80 year history, Gaston founded the Marin City Historical and Preservation Society and started the Marin City 80 project to tell the story of African-American perseverance in Marin County.

Ms. Gaston's book is available online and at the JCC. She will be signing books after the discussion.

SF-Marin Food Bank in San Rafael.

Only six volunteers are needed, so register now if you are able to commit for this mitzah. Some light lifting is involved, and there will be a brief orientation. 

You will be helping the important work of 
the SF-Marin Food Bank.

Since 1987, the SF-Marin Food Bank has been helping to address food insecurity which affects one in five people in our community. There are 260 food pantries including those at college campuses. There are home deliveries to seniors and disabled adults, and snacks are brought to high need schools. Sixty percent of the food delivered is fresh produce.

Join us for an afternoon of learning with Book Passage owner Elaine Petrocelli. She'll discuss a selection of novels with a Jewish theme or by Jewish authors.

We are grateful to Book Passage for hosting this event. When Elaine started in the book business in 1976, her goal was to create the best possible bookstore for Marin County. Now 48 years later, Book Passage has proven to be an innovator in bringing us the world's finest authors.

What's better than sisters serving together?

Looking for three WRS sisters for each date to join together in serving a "heat and serve" meal at Jonathan's Place, the San Rafael based shelter serving unhoused clients.

We meet at 10:00am. The food will be on hand.

We heat a brunch meal of quiche, turkey sausage, fries, muffins, and fruit.

Duties are: general prep for service, cutting muffins/fruit, service in person and creating to-go boxes, light clean up

You must be able to stand for 2 hours.
Volunteers must be 16 years and over.
